Joinery: A workshop in traditional methods of joining wood December 10 - 11th, 2024, 4:00 - 6:30 pm
This two-day workshop is open to all members of WWGVR who would like to learn traditional wood joinery. Traditional woodworking joints, such as mortise and tenon joints, are the basis of fine furniture making. These joints can be found in casework, doors, beds, tables, chairs, wall cabinets and more.
Instructors will demonstrate examples of basic joinery techniques. Students will make a mortise and tenon joint and a bridal joint using a mortising machine and tenoning jig on the table saw. Students will also learn methods of laying out these joints using marking gauges, marking knives, rulers, combination squares, dividers, calipers, planes and chisels. The class is free to attendees. Materials will be supplied.
